Blogger spots KFV Tour Bus in route to Salt Lake City and lives to write about it!
Mini-Road Trip:
Posted on August 24, 2011 by cksdays!
Last Friday afternoon I was on my way to Salt Lake listening to Reba McEntire’s Number One’s CD – Disc 2. Reba and Lari White are my two essential travel CD’s, they must accompany me every road trip. For this trip, I traded out Lari so that I could listen to Sugarland. My sister bought me a ticket to the group’s concert on Saturday and I had some cramming to do.
I traveled 100 miles and decided I better feed Felix the Ford Explorer with some cheap gas. Pilot in Evanston would do perfectly because Felix isn’t particular, he just gets hungry a lot. The signs for Evanston were getting more frequent so I pulled into the right lane anticipating the turn off. As it turned out, I was right behind a tour bus, well, more like a tour RV. The group’s name was written on the back with some terrifying artwork. Will anybody be jealous that I followed the group Kung Fu Vampire into Evanston to fuel up my vehicle?
It took a moment for me to understand the writing on the RV but once I saw the name I assumed it was some kind of band. I was right. It also took me a few moments to register the license plate. It read K F V. But the V looked like a U to me. “Is that legal?” I asked myself. I looked up at the group name and then back at the plate. “Ohhh,” I said and laughed at myself. What a difference a letter makes! No need to be offended.
When the RV pulled up to a gas pump I saw the side of the bus, er, RV and read “Gothic Hip Hop.” The combination of the artwork and group name terrified me just a little bit. The driver stepped out of the vehicle and his arms were covered in tattoos. By all appearances this was not a group I would voluntarily listen to. As I was going in to pay, a little old lady was taking pictures of the RV. “Dang me!” I almost said aloud. I left my phone in the car so I couldn’t take any pictures. I had to say the group’s name over and over again so that I wouldn’t forget before I could post it to my Facebook status. I also made a mental note to look up the website and check out what kind of genre gothic hip hop is.
Yesterday I finally remembered to check out the website. It scared the patootsies out of me. If you’re wondering what a patootsie is, it’s a medical term. The exact meaning is something that ought not to be scared out of you. No, I don’t recommend this website to the faint of heart.
I left before the RV did so our paths crossed just for that short amount of time. Just long enough to give me something to blog about.
