This is old news but interesting so we at KungFuVampire.com would like to share. The article mentions Kung Fu Vampire as one of 5 Rappers making a name for himself.

Listed below are five essential upcoming subway rappers performing at the Gathering. Hopsin: This kind of L. Any. underground rapper straddles the West Coast-style and horror hiphop boundaries. He’s known intended for aggressive delivery and insults to mainstream rappers just like Lil Wayne and Drake. Recently he’s even started to climb out of underground hiphop by featuring on a song together with B. a. B. Kung Fu Vampire: Furthermore hailing from California, Kung Fu Vampire appreciates the horror rap label, but views himself to be his own genre dubbed gothic hip-hop. At times performing with a band, he mixes subway rap together with live spooky instrumentation. Wolfpac: This kind of Pennsylvania subway rap group was formed by former Bloodhound Gang member Daddy Long Hip and legs. They are part horror rap, aspect horror punk, and are recognized for crazy concert events. Unusual for most underground rappers, the group furthermore releases its brand of adult Dvd disks. Mars: Another underground hiphop favorite from California, Mars has been releasing audio since he was 17. His or her style is usually distinct because it mixes horror rap with an increase of old-fashioned gangsta hiphop. Ajax: Last but not least with this listing of underground rappers is usually Ajax, an upcoming Detroit MC that distinguishes himself from other subway rappers by calling his or her style “stonercore. inches His lyrics are less regarding horror hiphop subjects and more about partying. They’re are just some of the next big names in subway rap performing at the Gathering of the Juggalos. And many more underground rappers are now being announced while the festival pulls closer.

Wild Week of Weirdos Winds Up in West Hollywood

…Next up was Kung Fu Vampire. I’ve seen this act a number of times with different Psychopathic acts and I’m always impressed. The band includes almost as many people as Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club (Band) but depending on the gig they have a varying number of folks on stage. Tonight The Vampire, Razz(Violin and pic on right), Jeremy Pollett(Bass), and Paxton(Drums) were in attendance. Vampire has got a very unique sound bringing a rapid fire delivery reminiscent of other NorCal rappers with that wicked flavor thrown in. Live sets are especially cool because the way it was mixed emphasized the bass and violin more than studio stuff, which made it feel like the sound track from a creepy movie. If I was a clickin’ man, I’d check out their website and youtube to learn more. The Juggalos were really feeling The Vampire, especially loving “Grinder” and “iCount”. This act has paid their dues and doesn’t even have to bother trying to get cheap pops from the crowd, they’ll just start chanting “family” at him. Some would consider this the highest form of praise from a very selective and skeptical audience…

Hey, blogspot readers, abandon all hope if ye dare to enter this dungeon! SouthSide’s hanging out amongst the walking “dead” at the Dead 4 Life Tour featuring Mars, 2NSANE, and Kung Fu Vampire along with local party schoolboys and gals of The Prep School Tragedy. They as well as a lineup that included Lil Sicc & Intrekit, Liquid Assassin and Damienz Dezign were ready to rock the Bottom Lounge stage. Though this reviewer wasn’t hip on the hiphop/rap sound, she did like the zombified theme happening throughout most of the acts performing tonight.

More than a novelty band, but likewise not married to the conventions of either goth or hip-hop, Kung Fu Vampire mixes a savage sound and a stark sense of whimsy into something that is very much itself. Take, for example, the song “Vampire,” where a rapper launches into an explosion of hard-laced rhyme while a keyboardist evokes the feel of a gothic organ while an operatic female vocalist fills a bridge with something out of a B-movie fright fest. And it all works. It really shouldn’t, but it does.

by Matt McDaniel—July 29, 2009

Alice in Wonderland Three of the most talked-about things at Comic-Con last week were vampires (“New Moon” and “True Blood”), another movie pairing director Tim Burton and Johnny Depp (“Alice in Wonderland”), and updates of cult ’60s TV shows (“Doctor Who” and “The Prisoner”). So how excited fans would get if all of those elements could be combined into one movie?

Apparently, we’ll find out when Burton and Depp team up for the big-screen adaptation of “Dark Shadows,” the Gothic soap opera about vampires, ghosts, and monsters that ran on ABC from 1966 to 1971. Burton confirmed this last Thursday when he presented footage from “Alice in Wonderland” to a capacity crowd at Comic-Con’s cavernous Hall H. He said “Dark Shadows” would be his next project, “if I ever finish this one here.”

I found out about Kung Fu Vampire when I was in Cali last year. I really wanted to check out his live act, maybe even do a show with him. Unfortunately I never made it to the San Jose area where he was doing his thing. But thanks to the internet, I can have this conversation with him now. Enjoy.

We’re a day into the summer and last night the season kicked off right with a mind bending session in Hollywood at the Viper Room. As you may have heard, the Hellava Night party has been stumbling drunk throughout the entire west coast this past week and is now heading sxsw for stints in Arizona and New Mexico before taking a break in early July. Big shot out to all the heads showing suicidal love in each and every town and yes, that includes you Eugene, Oregon even though your hip hop police ran us out of town early… We’re gonna have to do a podcast just to highlight the hi jinks and shenanigans from the road, Daniel Jordan just woke up after a 3 day coma and Esham was still in a zombie trance from Santa Clara the night after in Fresno. Syco, tix on us for the show in Detroit. holla at ur boy…

Massive shot out to Kung Fu Vampire who travels mobb deep with dozens of multitalented and ridiculously hot girls at all times. Marz stopped in for a few surprise appearances and nuff respect to Jason in LA who promoted Esham and the show in historic fashion. While Laker fans were rioting after their championship win, dude was out there holding a hellava night poster during live news coverage. Now that’s gangsta!!!

By Sean Thompson

I must preface this review by stating for the record that I am not a huge fan of rap and/or hip hop. It isn’t necessarily because I do not respect it as a musical form; I am just simply more a fan of actual guitar-driven rock n’ roll. However, this does not mean I do not appreciate it. That said, I cannot truly claim to be an appreciator of the South Bay Music Scene without including Kung Fu Vampire.

Based right here in San Jose, Kung Fu Vampire distinguish themselves not simply by their visual appeal, but also by their sound. Blending classic rap/hip hop deliveries with Gothic beats and an eclectic mix of instruments (including violin and cello), Kung Fu Vampire – both the man (whose real name shall remain a mystery…) and the act – deliver something…just a wee bit different. In researching bands based in Silicon Valley, their name came up over and over as an act I absolutely had to check out. During Left Coast Live in May, I finally got my chance.

It is safe to say I was bitten and hooked. Pun intended.

Active on the scene since about 2001, KFV established their sound with the aptly titled Fang Shui (released July 2001) and followed it up in 2004 with Blood Bath Beyond. The sound evolved, but with distinct direction, becoming more refined as something of a new genre – Gothic Hip Hop. With each live show, KFV further expanded their audience base, but true recognition seemed to elude them locally. They have played such events as the Saw III release party as well as making an impression with their set at The Playboy Mansion and have also shared the stage with other notable acts such as Digital Underground, KRS-1, Papa Roach, and others. And yet, even as their resume and reputation grew nationally (and even internationally), they seemed to remain one of the South Bay’s best kept secrets.

With the release of Dead Sexy, KFV are poised to blow all of that out of the coffin. Featuring production by Leon Freeze, Prohoezak, Sadie Flick, The Iklectix and Kung Fu Vampire himself – while showcasing collaborations with Spice 1, Dem Hoodstarz and Z Man (from One Block Radius) – Dead Sexy is KFV’s first release in a little over 5 years. I have to admit that I seriously enjoy this CD, especially getting into the tracks “Transactions”, “No Thang”, and “Darkness We Run”. KFV’s talent for seamlessly delivering colorful and entertaining flows are additionally featured on “Circuitry” and “Neckromance”. An added bonus included on Dead Sexy are a couple of live tracks (“Last Walk” and “Neckromance”), showcasing how tight their sound and delivery are in front of an audience. Another treat for fans are two remixes of “Transactions”, one by Bloodwire and the other by Settler.

Dead Sexy is appealing not simply because of KFV’s dedication to mixing old school rap with styles previously not thought to blend well (Goth, Funk, and Rock), but also due in no small part to their dynamic visual style. This approach helps KFV to appeal to a broad audience…and their live show seals the deal, ensuring that everyone in the house has a bloody good time.

If you want to hear and see for yourself what I am talking about, pick up a copy of Dead Sexy from KFV’s website (http://www.kungfuvampire.com/). If you are local, KFV are playing The Avalon Nightclub in Santa Clara on June 19th, tearing up the stage with Esham, Natas, and Mars. June 20th KFV will be in Fresno at Babylon and June 21st finds them further south, burning down The Viper Room in Hollywood.
